See Receiving Confidential Faxes in Advanced Operations. Make sure the
person sending you the fax knows the correct mail box number.
Your fax machine will not poll a remote fax machine. Call the person
at the remote fax machine and make sure that they have loaded documents
and set their fax machine in polling transmission mode. Check also if their
fax machine uses either standard polling transmission or ITU polling
transmission.
Your fax machine is connected to a PBX and you can not dial out. You
must enter your access digit before the telephone number for each number
that you dial or program into your machine. Also, your fax machine must
be programmed for PBX operation before it will work. See Connecting to
a PBX in Installation.
You want to answer an external telephone but your fax machine
always answers first.
If you are using an external telephone, change the
user function setting for ring response on your fax machine. See
Programming.
Your received faxes sometimes look distorted. If the document received
is wider or longer than the paper you have loaded into your paper tray, your
fax machine automatically reduces either the width or the length of the
document to fit on your paper. This type of problem could also be
communication related.
You are constantly receiving unsolicited advertising on your fax
machine.
Try using the closed network function. See Receiving Faxes in
Basic Operations.
Your fax machine does not immediately switch to TEL mode when
you make or receive a voice call.
Try pressing the Stop key. Your fax
machine will return to standby mode so that you can converse. This
condition may happen infrequently due to telephone line conditions, or the
type of external telephone used. If this problem happens often, consult
your service representative.
