Heat sink
Description

Before removing the heat sink, follow these steps:

Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.

Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.

Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

Remove the battery (see

Remove the following components:

Optical drive (see

Switch cover (see

Keyboard (see

Display assembly (see

Base enclosure (see

Fan assembly (see 
Remove the heat sink:

Remove the four Phillips PM2.5×6.0 screws (1) that secure the heat sink to the system board.

Slide the heat sink (2) to the left until the right side of the heat sink clears the top cover.
NOTE:
Due to the adhesive quality of the thermal paste located between the heat sink and
processor, it may be necessary to move the heat sink from side to side to detach the heat sink from
the processor.
