The battery latch is included with the battery latch kit , spare part number 690633-001.

Before removing the battery latch, follow these steps:

Make special note of each screw and screw lock size and location during removal

and replacement.

Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the

computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.

Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.

Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet,

and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

Remove the battery (see

Remove the following components:

a. Hard drive (see 

b. Upgrade bay device (see 

).

Keyboard (see 

d. Top cover (see 

e. Fan and heat sink assembly (see 

).

Audio/USB 3.0 board (see 

).

g. Speakers (see 

h. ExpressCard/USB 2.0 assembly (see 

System board (see 

).

RJ-11 connector cable (see 

k. Service door latch (see 

).

Remove the battery latch:

Position the computer right-side up with the front toward you.

Ensure that the spring (1) remains intact while removing the battery latch.

Remove the two Phillips screws (2) that secure the battery latch to the base enclosure.
