Complete these steps to install the stand-alone version:

You can stack as many as five Vanguard 6435/6455 units on top of each other.

Do not place items weighing more than 20 pounds (9 kg) on top of a Vanguard 
6435/6455 enclosure.

Unpack the Vanguard 6435/6455, and inspect the unit to ensure you have 
all the components.

Install any daughtercards, option cards, SIMMs, or DIMs that you need to 
add to the unit, as necessary.

Be sure that the four rubber feet are on the bottom of the enclosure.

Attach the power cord and cables to the rear panel. Refer to the “Cabling 
Your Vanguard 6435/6455” section on page 3-9 for cabling information.

Place the enclosure in the selected site, and power unit on. Do not block 
the fan inlet or outlet vents.

Ensure the fan is operational after powering the unit on by checking to see 
if air blows out of the unit.

Ensure that the ambient temperature at the fan inlet is within the 
temperature range specified in Appendix A.
