Figure 3-13 shows how to add or remove a FLASH or Data Compression SIMM for 
the Vanguard 6435/6455. Refer to Figure 3-10 for the location of the SIMM slots:

• Data Compression SIMM or Encryption SIMM: Slot U108

• FLASH SIMM: Slot U57

Be careful when installing a Data Compression SIMM or a FLASH SIMM. These 
SIMM slots look identical and you may accidently place a SIMM in the wrong 
SIMM slot which could damage the equipment.

Some components used in the 6435/6455 are sensitive to static electric discharges; 
static electric discharges can cause damage to internal components. Use proper 
handling and grounding precautions whenever handling cards and components.

The location of the Data Compression (DCC/DSP) SIMM/Encryption SIMM 
and the FLASH SIMM are indicated on the motherboard as shown in 
Figure 3-13.
