ip bgp neighbor conn-retry-interval 
The interval, in seconds, between 
BGP 
retries to set up a connection via the transport protocol with 
another peer. In the connect state, 
BGP 
tries to set up a connection with a remote peer. If the connec-
tion fails, then the connect retry interval is started. Once this interval elapses, 
BGP 
retries setting up 
the connection.
ip bgp neighbor ip_address conn-retry-interval seconds
Syntax Definitions
ip_address
A 32-bit IP address for the neighbor.
seconds
The time interval (in seconds) between retries. The valid range is 
0–65535.

Usage Guidelines
• The time interval is started when a connection to a peer is lost.
• Other BGP peers may automatically attempt to restart a connection with this peer if they have config-
ured automatic peer session restart (using the

before the new connection retry interval takes effect.
• Entering this command without the seconds variable resets the variable to its default value.
