OPERATION NOTES:
INPUT — Selectable Active or Passive modes.  Passive is a hi-gain input
and Active is –10db less.  If your bass has a battery in it, choose Active.
SIGNAL MUTE — Mutes the signal from the amp and also the D.I.  The
Tuner Out stays active.  (Optional footswitch operates the Mute function).
TUNER OUT — Plug your tuner in here.  This output stays active when
the Mute switch is engaged.
F.E.T. GAIN — Sets the Input Gain to the solid-state preamp.
TUBE GAIN/VOLUME — Sets the Gain structure and Volume of the
Tube preamp.  Setting a higher Gain level and lower Volume level will
drive the tube harder, resulting in more overdrive/distortion.
O/L  LED’s — These overload LED’s sense the output from the preamps,
so even though you may have selected the FET preamp, the Tube LED’s
may light up as well if you have that preamp selected to be driven hard.
Always defer to the Channel selector LED to confirm which preamps are
selected.
TUBE/F.E.T./MIX — These push buttons select or mix the two preamps.
This operation can be accessed by the front panel buttons or two button
footswitch which is included.
SIGNAL SHAPE CIRCUITS — Three selectable voicing circuits that are
Min.-Max. adjustable. Optional 4 button F/S available for these
operations.
•
L.F. EXTEND — Lowers the low frequency roll-off to approx. 30

Hz, producing a more pronounced low frequency rumble.
•
MID SCOOP —A wider bandwidth signal scoop centered at 800

Hz in the mid response.
•
H.F. ATTACK —Increases 4K Hz freq. for more bite or string

sound when using a pick.
FIVE BAND ACTIVE EQ —A smooth, musical EQ network w/LF and HF
shelving networks and 3 midrange peaking filters. Cut/Boost: +/-12db
MASTER VOLUME —This adjusts the signal sent to the power amp.
Best results are achieved when operated between the 9 o’clock and 3
o’clock positions.
STATUS LED’S — A complete array of LED’s that monitor the operation
of the amp.
•
POWER LED—Indicates the power is ON to the unit
•
PROTECT LED—Indicates an internal fault has occurred. Turn

off the amp at once.  This light will stay lit for 3 seconds

upon turn-on, which is normal.
•
THERMAL LED—This LED will engage 15 degrees before

thermal shut-down. The fan should be on HIGH SPEED

if this occurs. The amp will automatically re-set if thermal

shut-down occurs after it has cooled to within specification.
•
SIGNAL LED—Will illuminate when signal is present and is

received by the power amp.
•
CLIP/LIMIT LED—This indicates that the maximum power

threshold has been crossed. Driving the amp 6db beyond this

point will cause gradual clipping.
LIMITER SWITCH — Engages the internal “Soft Clip” Limiter. This
limiting action is particularly musical sounding, even when driven hard.
XLR DIRECT OUT — Studio Quality, fully active transformerless
balanced DI. PRE/POST switch; GROUND switch; OUTPUT LEVEL
Control adjustable between –50db and –10db.  Fully protected from
Phantom Power.
TWO SPEED FAN — The GBE 600 is fan cooled. This 2 speed fan
allows for quiet fan operation when recording.  The fan speed should be
on HIGH when driving a 4 ohm load hard or anytime when operating at  2
ohms.
FOOTSWITCH INPUTS — The 2 button footswitch fits into the 1/4”
CHANNEL jack for CHANNEL switching or MIX. Our optional 4
button footswitch uses the 5 pin DIN input. This operates the MUTE, LF
EXTEND, MID SCOOP and HF ATTACK functions. The front panel
switches override all footswitch functions.
SPEAKER OUTPUTS — The GBE 600 features 2 standard 1/4” speaker
jacks plus 2 SPEAKON® NL4 connectors.  Minimum total load
impedance is 2 ohms. The SPEAKON® is wired using pins 1+ and 1-,
pins 2+ and 2– are not connected.
