When you’re watching a program as it’s broadcast, you’re watching live TV.

To go to live 

TV at any time, press the LIVE TV/GUIDE button on your remote. You can also select 
Watch Live TV from TiVo Central

®

. If you’ve used the pause, rewind, slow, or instant 

replay features and are “behind” live TV, you can press ADVANCE to catch up. 

There are several ways to change channels:

• Use the Guide. Tired of channel surfing? Choose something to watch with the 

program guide. To see the guide, press the LIVE TV/GUIDE button. Then use the 
arrow buttons to highlight a program. To change the channel, press SELECT.

• Use the Number Pad. To go to a specific channel, use the numbers on your remote 

control, then press ENTER. (If you don’t press ENTER, the channel changes 
automatically after a few seconds.) To clear the number before the channel changes, 
press CLEAR.

• Use ENTER. To jump back to the previous channel, press ENTER.

• Use CHAN UP/DOWN. Of course, you can also still use the CHAN UP/DOWN button 

on your remote control. (CHAN UP/DOWN skips channels that are not on the channel 
list selected in Guide Options. For more information on channel lists, see page 68.)

With TiVo Plus

TM

 you can make a list of your Favorite Channels and set the guide to 

display only those channels. You can also use guide filtering to highlight types of 
programs you’re looking for, such as cooking shows or comedy movies. For more about 
Guide Options available with TiVo Plus service, see page 98.
