Data Encryption Standard. An encryption algorithm for data communications
using a shared key to encrypt data for sending between two points. Standard
DES uses a 56-bit key, while “triple DES” (3DES) uses a 168 bit key. 3DES is

A descriptive name for an address or group of addresses on the Internet.
