Configuring the DSLAM type
Before setting the wan data protocol and encapsulation, you need to define the type of DSLAM
you want to configure. You can set the 6100 VDR to connect with a Copper Mountain DSLAM
by issuing the set wan dslam command.
Syntax: set wan dslam <CopperMountain | LucentStinger>
Argument:
Syntax: set wan dslam <CopperMountain | LucentStinger>
Argument:
CopperMountain | LucentStinger type of DSLAM
Example 1:
In this example, the DSLAM type is set to Copper Mountain. The change is committed, saved
and then the unit is reset.
Example 2:
Example 2:
In this example, the DSLAM type is set to Lucent Stinger. The change is saved and then the unit
is reset. You also need to commit and save the changes and then reset the unit.
Configuring SDSL WAN encapsulation
You can set the encapsulation type for the WAN interface (voice and data) by issuing the set wan
encap command. DSLAMs (SDSL Copper Mountain) utilize 1483Bridged or 1483Routed.
Syntax: set wan encap <1483Bridged | 1483Routed | 1490Bridged | 1490Routed>
Argument:
Syntax: set wan encap <1483Bridged | 1483Routed | 1490Bridged | 1490Routed>
Argument:
1483Bridged | 1483Routed | 1490Bridged |1490Routed
the Lucent Stinger supports 1483Bridged or 1483Routed; Copper Mountain
DSLAM supports 1483Bridged
Example 1:
In this example, the WAN encapsulation is set to 1483Bridged to interoperate with a Copper
Mountain DSLAM. You also need to commit and save the changes and then reset the unit.
