Lockeford Springs Golf Course, located in the heart of the Lodi wine country in Northern
California, is designed to provide an enjoyable round of golf for the novice player, while providing
a unique challenge for the highly skilled golfer. Designed by Jim Summers and Sandy Tatum,
Lockeford Springs is a championship links-style course with uneven lies, undulating greens, and
hidden water hazards. The signature hole is the 18th: a 514-yard, par 5 dogleg fairway with a
water hazard on the left, an L-shaped green, and a canal on the right.
The golf course uses a Zebra P210i printer to create specialized membership and gift cards that
have proven very popular among its clientele.
"We were using a paper gift certificate receipt form, but people fold them up and lose them,"
reports Casey Haynes, General Manager of Lockeford Springs Golf Course. "We went to the
Zebra P210i and it's much better. The gift certificates are pretty popular. People actually buy
more gift cards now."
The gift cards can be used to purchase lessons, play golf on the course, and buy equipment and
other items in the golf course's retail store.
Haynes said the cards are printed on site and on demand because that way he can put whatever
he wants to on the cards and print them out on the spot. The printer is located in the pro shop and
is used four or five times a day by about 10 employees.
Everyone at Lockeford Springs has found the printer easy to use, he adds.
"Once you understand the printer, it's easy to use," Haynes notes. "We have printed about 1,000
cards so far. We do a lot of tournaments that have gift cards associated with them."
In a year and a half of constant use, Lockeford Springs has not had any problems with its printer.
"It has definitely improved our operations and our profitability," Haynes sums up.
