There are many ways to remotely connect to the PC Free. The PC Free has built in wireless capabil-
ity and can connect to any access point (AP) on your network. Once connected to your network, it
can access any PC that is also connected to your network. If your network does not have wireless
capability, you can connect to a wired LAN by means of the RJ-45 connector on the PC Free.
Note:

An access point (AP) is a base station in a wireless Local Area Network (LAN). Once users are
within range of the access point, they can connect to the LAN.
Configuring Network Settings
There are various scenarios for connecting to the PC Free, such as through a wireless LAN, wired
LAN, or ad-hoc connection. An ad-hoc (also called peer-to-peer) is a direct connection between the
local PC and the PC Free and can be wireless or wired. (The wired connection must use a crossover
cable.)
Once the connection is made, the actual transfer of data is the same for all connections, by using ei-
ther Windows’s built-in Remote Desktop Connection utility or PC Free’s WPC Desktop utility.
Most office environments use DHCP (Dy-
namic Host Configuration Protocol)
servers that automatically assign IP ad-
dresses to client stations on the TCP/IP
network and to the PC Free.
If your office environment uses multiple
static (fixed) IP addresses, you will need
to specify the IP address under Network
Connections
 on the PC Free.

Checking IP Addresses
Multiple PCs can connect to PC Free at the same time, as long PC Free and all PCs are on the same
LAN segment.
To be on the same LAN segment the Default Gateway and Subnet Mask must be the same. The first
three fields of the IP address—in the case below “192.168.0.xxx”—must also match.
