Migrates from an IBM Mainframe with an
End-to-End HP Solution
Bernalillo County, located in central New Mexico, was looking to upgrade
its server and storage infrastructure in order to operate more efficiently and
provide additional services to county residents. It was looking to consolidate
servers, save on server maintenance and licensing costs, deploy servers and
applications more quickly, and migrate from a mainframe to industry-standard
servers, to launch an Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) application. In
addition it planned to upgrade its storage infrastructure from server attached
storage to a highly scalable, high-performing solution.

addition it planned to upgrade its storage infrastructure from server attached
storage to a highly scalable, high-performing solution.
It chose a comprehensive HP solution, consisting of HP BladeSystem technology,
and multiple HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Arrays (EVAs), including an
EVA3000, an EVA4000, and an EVA6000, and HP StorageWorks Business Copy
EVA Software.

As a result of the HP solution, Bernalillo County has improved the reliability of
its applications, consolidated servers, reduced costs, cut maintenance costs,
simplified server maintenance, and can deploy new servers far more quickly.
By migrating from the mainframe, it will improve performance, and improve
application simplicity and flexibility. The new EVA storage gives the county a
more flexible storage infrastructure, and will lead to a projected, cumulative
five-year net benefit of $2,223,044.
