Installation and Set Up Guide
Xerox FreeFlow
®
 Express to Print
Windows 8.x Installation
Introduction
The following editions of Windows 8.0/8.1 are supported with 
FreeFlow 9.0 SP11 and higher:
Pro (32 bit and 64 bit)
Enterprise (32 bit and 64 bit)
Installation
Please check periodically for updates on xerox.com.
A. Before installing Express to Print
1.
Log on as the Administrator account.
2.
Enable the default system administrator account.
i.
Open the Start Menu, type Computer.
ii. Right-click on Computer, select [ManageSystem ToolsLocal 
Users and GroupsUsers].
iii. Right-click on Administrator, select [Properties].
iv. Uncheck the Account is disabled checkbox.
3.
Log off, and then log on as the Administrator.
4.
Install the .NET Framework 3.5.
i.
Open the Start Menu, type Control Panel, and press Enter.
ii. Select [ProgramsTurn Windows features on or off].
iii. Select [.NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)], 
then select [OK].
iv. If prompted, select [Download files from Windows Update].
NOTE You must be connected to the internet.
v.
Select [Close].
5.
Install any applications, such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, 
and other third-party software before installing Express to Print.
NOTE  For Microsoft Office documents, ensure that each 
application that created the document is installed, will launch 
and operate properly before attempting document conversion in 
Express to Print.
6.
Ensure you log on as the Administrator.
7.
Ensure that your virus checker is set to allow software 
installation.
8.
Disable the Indexing Service:
i.
Open the Start Menu, type services.msc and press enter.
ii. Locate and right-click on Windows Search within the list of 
services.
iii. Select [Properties].
iv. Select the Startup type drop-down, and select [Disabled].
v.
Select [OK] and close the Services window.
9.
Disable the User Account Control (UAC):
i.
Open the Start Menu, type Control Panel and press Enter.
ii. Select [System and Security].
iii. Under Action Center, select [Change User Account Control 
Settings].
iv. From the User Account Control settings, select [Never Notify].
v.
Select [OK].
vi. Select [Yes] to allow the changes to be made to your 
computer.
10. Run all administrators in Admin Approval Mode:
i.
For Windows 8, open the Start Menu.Type gpedit.msc and 
press Enter.
ii. For Windows 8.1, right-click on the Start button.  In the list of 
Options, select Run.  Type gpedit.msc and press Enter.  the 
Local Group Policy window displays.
iii. In the pane on the left, in the Computer Configuration area, 
click the triangle next to Windows Settings. Sub-folders 
appear.
iv. Click the triangle next to Security Settings. Sub-folders 
appear.
v.
Click the triangle next to Local Policies. Sub-folders appear.
vi. Click Security Options. The pane on the right shows the 
policies available.
vii. Scroll down until you locate User Account Control: Run all 
administrators in Admin Approval Mode
viii. Double-click User Account Control: Run all administrators in 
Admin Approval Mode to open the User Account Control: 
Run all administrators in Admin Approval... 
window.
ix. Ensure Disabled is selected and click OK. The Security Setting 
changes to Disabled.
x. Close the Local Group Policy Editor window.
xi. Reboot the computer to enable the changes.
11. After the reboot, ensure you log on as the System Administrator.
B. Install the software
1.
Download Express to Print from Xerox.com > Support & Drivers 
Software & Platforms > FreeFlow > FreeFlow Express to Print

Note where the installation file is saved. 
2.
Open My Computer, locate the installation file, and double-click 
Setup.ExpressToPrint.exe to begin the installation.
3.
The installation program opens and checks for system 
prerequisites.
NOTE If a prerequisite is not met, the installation will end. 
Resolve the problem and restart the installation.
4.
A welcome message appears. Click Next.
