Description

®
 Makeready now supports remote scanning with two options. Both options are available under the 
Makeready Insert > Remote Scan menu option. 
•  Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) with support for Automatic document feeder scanners 
•  Scan from the Device with Xerox-enabled Extensible Interface Platform (EIP) version 2.5 and above 
multifunction printers (MFPs)

Using Windows Image Acquisition Scanning 
Prerequisites 
Check that the following are enabled before you use Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) scanning: 
1.  The printer must be connected directly to your network and have a proper IP address.  To check the IP 
address that should be used, at the machine console attached to the printer press the Machine Status 
button and note the IPV4 address that is listed. 
2.  The printer must support WSD and must have that option enabled.  The option can be enabled using one 
of the following: 
A.  At the physical printer: 
i.  Using the machine console attached to the printer, press the Login / Logout button.  Login as 
the System Administrator. 
ii.  Press the Machine Status button. 
iii.  Navigate to Tool > Network and Connectivity setting > Port setting > WSD. The WSD  
option should be set to Enabled.   
iv.  If the WSD setting is not enabled, select [Change Setting], select WSD Scan-Port Status 
and then select [Change Setting] again. 
v.  Select Enabled and then [Save].  
vi.  Press the Login / Logout button and logout. 
vii.  When prompted, press [Reboot Now]
B.  Remotely: 
i.  Connect to the CentreWare Internet Services on the printer by launching a Web Browser from 
any desktop using the URL 
http://<Print
er IP address>
 
ii.  Select the Properties tab. 
iii.  Login with the Admin account and Password. 
iv.  From the left panel, select Connectivity > Port Settings .  Set WSD Scan to Enabled.  
v.  Click [Apply].  
vi.  When requested, select [Reboot Machine] to restart the printer.
