Chapter 3  MeetingPlace Web Concepts and Functions
Web Conferencing Applications
The supported web conferencing applications include
MeetingPlace WebShare and T.120 applications such as
Microsoft NetMeeting.
MeetingPlace WebShare
MeetingPlace WebShare comes bundled with MeetingPlace Web.
It is a Java applet that is automatically loaded into a user’s Web
browser as soon as they join the web conference.
MeetingPlace WebShare enables users to conduct web
conferences from a Web browser by allowing them to participate
and collaborate on shared documents and applications. With
MeetingPlace WebShare, a T.120 application is not required to
host and participate in a meeting. However, MeetingPlace Web
allows for either browser-based or T.120 application access to a
meeting.
Microsoft NetMeeting and T.120 Clients
Microsoft NetMeeting is a free application that comes bundled
with Windows operating systems (95, 98, NT, 2000, and XP) and
Internet Explorer. (Windows Messenger on Windows XP
systems). A free copy of NetMeeting can be downloaded from
the Microsoft web site.
UNIX users must have a T.120 application such as SunForum 3.2
to host web conferences. These users will be given the web
conference meeting information at the bottom of the
Note: Hosting a web conference using MeetingPlace WebShare
is only supported for Windows system users. Users running
UNIX operating systems must use a T.120-compliant application
to host a web conference. Macintosh users may view and
collaborate, but not host web conferences.
UNIX and Macintosh users will not be able to view the Meeting
Room.
