Appendix B  Using NetMeeting  299
The following are known issues that exist between NetMeeting
2.1 and NetMeeting 3.0:
NetMeeting 2.1 users cannot take control of an application or
document that is being shared by a NetMeeting 3.0 user.
In some cases, NetMeeting 2.1 users will not be able to use
the chat feature with NetMeeting 3.0 users.
NetMeeting 2.1 users cannot close the Chat window on their
screen if the Chat feature is being used with a NetMeeting
3.0 user.
For more information regarding NetMeeting 2.1 and NetMeeting
3.0 compatibility, refer to Microsoft’s Web site at
www.microsoft.com/netmeeting.
Configuring the NetMeeting MIME Type for a
Netscape Browser
To use NetMeeting, Netscape Navigator users need to have their
browsers configured with the NetMeeting MIME type. To help
users configure their browsers, the MeetingPlace Web server
provides a utility that users can download after joining a web
conference. This utility automatically configures the NetMeeting
MIME type for Netscape browsers.
To access this file, users simply join the web conference and click
a link, displayed in Figure B-1, that appears at the bottom of
MeetingPlace WebShare.
After downloading the utility, running it on their system, and
restarting their browser, the user is able to host a web conference
using NetMeeting. This link only appears if the MeetingPlace
Web server detects that a user’s Netscape browser needs the
NetMeeting MIME type configured.
