Q.
Can I use SD cards other than Cisco SD cards?
A.
Cisco does not support third-party SD cards. Cisco UCS Manager and IMC will not be able to manage or
discover any third-party SD cards. In addition, Cisco does not provide field and warranty support for third-party
SD cards.
Q.
What operating systems (OS) and hypervisors are supported with FlexFlash SD cards?
A.
For the most accurate and updated information, please check OS vendor support details. ESXi and Linux boot
is supported.
Q.
Is mirroring automatically rebuilt if customers need to replace a card?
A.
It depends. For servers with the FX3S controller, automatic rebuilding is supported if Auto Sync is enabled. For
other servers, automatic rebuilding is not supported. If Auto sync is enabled, then automatic synchronization
will occur when you replace a faulty SD card.
Q.
Can I use two different-sized SD cards in one server?
A.
No. SD cards must be identical in size on one server.
Q.
Is software preloaded on SD cards?
A.
In the past, with IMC 1.4 and 1.5, SD cards were partitioned on Cisco UCS C-Series servers only. All SD cards
that ship today are blank, and no cards are preloaded with software.
Q.
How can I set error thresholds?
A.
The FlexFlash operational profile allows you to set error thresholds on each card and for read-write operations
independently. If the number of errors on the cards exceeds these values, the cards will be marked as
unhealthy. You can specify an error threshold between 1 and 255. Alternatively, to specify that the card should
never be disabled regardless of the number of errors encountered, you can enter 0. The default threshold is 0.
To set your own thresholds, select Configure Operational Profiles, as shown in Figure 37.
