New Features and Functionality
Support for CPT System
Prime Optical adds support for Carrier Packet Transport (CPT) System, a
Carrier Ethernet-based crossponder solution used as an access or aggregation
device. CPT System enables smooth and efficient transition from time-division
multiplexing (TDM) networks to packet transport networks. CPT System is an
integrated packet transport platform that enables you to deploy new packet
transport networks.

CPT System is displayed as “PT System” in the Prime Optical user
interface.
interface.
CPT System supports the following software features:
•
Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS)
•
Multiprotocol Label Switching-Transport Profile (MPLS-TP)
•
Ethernet Virtual Circuit (EVC)
•
Pseudowire (PW)
•
Quality of service (QoS)
Note
In Prime Optical 9.3.1, the CPT-200 and CPT-600 platforms are
managed as ONS 15454 SONET/ONS 15454 SDH NEs.

Support for MPLS-TP
Prime Optical adds support for MPLS-TP. MPLS-TP is the technology that
enables MPLS to be deployed in a transport network and operated in a manner
similar to that of existing transport technologies. It extends MPLS to support
packet transport services with a degree of predictability similar to that found in
existing transport networks.

MPLS-TP technology extends the strength of the network core to the edge of
the network, particularly in mobile backhaul and optical transport networks.

Support for creating, viewing, and
managing MPLS-TP tunnels
managing MPLS-TP tunnels
Prime Optical supports creating, viewing, and managing MPLS-TP tunnels.
MPLS-TP tunnels are provisioned manually at their endpoints across the
network. An MPLS-TP tunnel consists of a pair of unidirectional tunnels
providing a bidirectional LSP. Each unidirectional tunnel can be protected with
an LSP that activates automatically upon failure.

wizard.
•
View and manage MPLS-TP tunnels using the TP Tunnel Service table.
Support for creating, viewing, and
managing pseudowires
managing pseudowires
Prime Optical supports creating, viewing, and managing pseudowires.
Pseudowire is the emulation of services over the MPLS network. It is a
technique to transport any kind of payload over the MPLS network.
