use and maintenance  Sonic 50
This operation may be difficult
because the springs (6) resist
considerably to the removal of
the shoes. Be careful not to crush or
bruise your hands and fingers.
Grasp the inner edge of the two friction
elements (7) at its centre and, pulling to-
ward yourself, shake the two shoes, thus
releasing them.
Before removing the pin lever
(8), mark it.
Mark the cam pin (9) and the pin lever (8)
with an indelible felt-tip (10), as indicated
in the figure (A).
Lock the screw (11) with an hexagon
spanner and loosen the nut (12).
Remove the pin lever (8).
Before removing the rear brake
shoe wear indicator (2), mark it.
Mark the cam pin (9) and the rear brake
shoe wear indicator (2) with an indelible
felt-tip (10), as indicated in the figure (B).
Withdraw and remove the rear brake
shoe wear indicator (2) and the relevant
gasket.
Withdraw the cam pin (9).
Moderately grease only the cen-
tral part of the pin.
Avoid dirting the cam or the are-
as around the pin seat with grease.
Grease the central part of the pin by us-
ing grease for kinematic motions, see
p. 71 (LUBRICANT CHART).
Upon reassembly:
Do not hit or force the cam pin
(9) with any hammer or other ob-
ject.
Manually insert the cam pin (9), by rotat-
ing and pushing it moderately.
Put back the rear brake shoe wear indi-
cator (2) and the pin lever (8), making
the reference marks (A) and (B) coincide
with those on the cam pin (9).
The wrong positioning of the
rear brake shoe wear indicator
results in the wrong measure-
ment of the rear brake shoe wear, with
consequent risk of compromising your
safety and that of other people and of
damaging the vehicle.
Put back the two friction elements (7),
coupling the plane ends (13) with the
cam pin (9) and the shaped ends (14)
with the fulcrum pin (15).
Check the correct coupling of
the springs (6).
