Starting with the power OFF and the LED off, pressing the button once will turn power ON and the LED will go on
green.  Pressing the button a second time will signal a shutdown to the Windows 95/98/ME system and the LED will start
to blink, indicating a shutdown has been started.  After one (1) minute, the shutdown will be complete, and power will
turn OFF automatically.  If you wish to turn power off before the one minute shutdown delay automatically expires,
pressing the button a third time will turn power off immediately.
With the button working this way, a user at the Windows 95 system would turn power ON by pressing the button once.
When the user is ready to turn the system off, the user only needs to press the button again.  The user does not even have
to perform a shut down from the Start menu -- pressing the button will cause the  Power On/Off +Aux

During the one minute ShutDown Delay period, both the M
ODEM
 and A

 ports will automatically be disabled
(disengaged).  This will avoid incoming calls causing potential problems that might otherwise occur if the modem were
to answer during the shutdown process.
AutoShutDown Software for Windows 95/98/ME
AutoShutDown.Exe for Windows 95/98/ME monitors the serial or parallel port to which the ShutDown adapter is
attached.  When the Remote Power On/Off signals a shutdown to occur, the software will detect the signal and attempt to
force the operating system to shut down.
To install the software, place the AutoShutDown diskette in the floppy drive and, from the Start menu, choose Run.  In
the Open box, type "A:\SETUP" or "B:\SETUP", whichever is appropriate.   If you are not in possession of the included
diskette, the software can be obtained via anonymous FTP at the following address:
 ftp://ftp.servertech.com/pub/autoshutdown

Copy the ASD-105.ZIP file, unzip it, then execute the ASD-105.EXE file to install.
The installation is very simple and only installs a few files and adds a few keys and values to the Windows registry.  The
only installation option is for the target directory, though we suggest you use the default.
After the installation is complete, you should attach the ShutDown adapter and cable, if you have not already done so,
and restart Windows.  When Windows restarts, AutoShutDown will automatically execute, even before any other
applications that start automatically, and even before the Windows Logon box.
