Corrective Maintenance—Print Quality Adjustments

With full width media installed, move the toggles so that each is approximately 1.5 in. 
(37–39 mm) to the right and left from the center of the printhead.

Enter the configuration mode and set the 

DARKNESS

 to the optimum level for the 

installed media. See 

.

Making adjustments in very small increments, move the printhead backwards while 
printing labels until the print quality deteriorates. Adjust the printhead position by equally 
turning the two horizontally positioned allen screws located at the back of the print 
mechanism.

Turn both screws 1/8 turn clockwise and observe the changes in print quality.

Turn both screws 1/4 turn counterclockwise and observe the changes in print quality.

Slowly adjust both screws an equal amount for optimum print quality.

Carefully look at the Pause Test labels for streaks, flouring, and other print quality 
problems.

If necessary, readjust both screws equally and observe if print quality problems are 
corrected.

Tighten the four holding screws at the top rear of the print mechanism.

Since printhead parallelism, printhead balance, and printhead position are interrelated, 
carefully look at the test labels for changes in these settings and readjust if necessary.

Do not turn one screw more than the other or the parallelism adjustment will be 

changed!
