The toner cartridge is a user replaceable component. When the operator panel indicates 
“TONERLOW”*, make sure that you have the replacement toner cartridge on hand. The printer may 
continue to print until the toner cartridge is completely used up.

Do not remove the toner cartridge from its package until you are ready to use it.

•

Do not expose the toner cartridge to light for more than 3 minutes to avoid damage.

•

Do not expose the toner cartridge to direct sunlight.

* The message appears when there is enough toner remaining to print approximately 500 to 1000 

simplex pages at 5% coverage in default DENSITY mode.

The life of the toner cartridge depends on the amount of toner that print jobs require. When 
continuous printing text at 5% coverage on Letter/A4 size, a toner cartridge lasts an average of 
8000 pages in simplex mode, depending on environment and media types. This assumes that print 
DENSITY and TON.SAVE menu items are set to default.

When toner is low, faded or light area might appear on a printed page. You might be able to 
temporarily improve print quality by distributing the toner.

Open the top cover by pushing the button on the side of the printer.
