Auto White Balance (AWB)
Use of auto white balance adjustment 
in inappropriate lighting conditions may 
result in reddish or bluish pictures. Where 
the subject is surrounded by many light 
sources or there are no white or whitish 
objects in the frame, auto white balance 
adjustment may not operate properly.
In this case, set the white balance to a 
mode except [AWB] manually.
The range that is controlled by the auto 
white balance adjustment mode of this 
camera
Blue sky
Cloudy sky (Rain)
Shade
TV screen
Sunlight
White fluorescent light
Incandescent light bulb
Sunrise and sunset
Candlelight

Setting the white balance manually 
(White set 
|)
Select [
|] (White set) and then 
press [MENU/SET].
Aim the camera at a sheet of white 
paper or a similar white object so that 
the frame on the centre of the screen 
turns white and then press [MENU/
SET].

Press [MENU/SET] twice to close the 
menu.
You can also press the shutter button 
halfway to finish.
The white balance setting is memorized 
even if the camera is turned off. 
However, the white balance setting 
for the advanced scene mode or the 
scene mode returns to [AWB] when the 
advanced scene mode or the scene 
mode is changed.
The white balance may not be correct if 
the subject is out of flash range.
You cannot use white set and white 
balance fine adjustment in the following 
modes.
[INDOOR PORTRAIT], [OUTDOOR 
PORTRAIT], [OUTDOOR SPORTS], 
[INDOOR SPORTS], [FOOD], 
[PARTY], [CANDLE LIGHT], 
[SUNSET], [BEACH], [STARRY SKY], 
[FIREWORKS], [SNOW] and [AERIAL 
PHOTO] modes.
