Competitive Advantages

Aggressive Price. The Passport* 2430 offers a lot of features at an aggressive price. The
Passport 2430 is a better value than the Cisco 1600, 1700 and 2500, and Motorola
Vanguard 320 - with a greater range of configuration options at a lower price point.

Modular WAN Interfaces. The Passport 2430 leverages the WAN modules currently
available for the Advanced Remote Node (ARN*), including 56/64Kbps and
T1/Fractional T1 DSU/CSUs, FE1 G703 adapter module, Serial, ISDN BRI (S/T and U)
and a V.34 Modem. The Cisco 1600 and 1700 series do not offer the same range of
connectivity options. Neither the Cisco 2513/2514/2515 (dual-LAN), nor the 2520/2521
(multi-serial) platforms support modular WAN interfaces. All 3Com NETBuilder Remote
Office (NBRO) systems are fixed configurations.

High-Performance Processor. The Passport 2430’s high-performance Motorola
MPC860T PowerQUICC microprocessor was chosen to not only support today’s
compute-intensive applications, but future applications as well.

10/100 Ethernet Support. Passport 2430 offers 10/100BASE-T LAN support, while the
Cisco 1600, 2500 and 3Com NetBuilder offer 10BASE-T only.

V.34 (up to 115.2 Kbps) and V.90 56K PCMCIA Modem options.  Neither Cisco nor
3Com supports an integral modem for analog dial-services routing. The Passport 2430
offers support for both V.34 and V.90 PCMCIA modems for increased flexibility. Both
modems can be used for out-of-band management. Hypercom IEN V.32bis modem is
limited to 14.4 Kbps. No competitors support an integral modem for out-of-band console
interface access.
