$222.2M in 2012 
According to VDC Research Group, the global linear 
imaging market will be $222.2M in 2012 — representing 
23 percent of the overall handheld bar code scanning 
market. As shown in Figure 1, linear imagers are projected 
to grow by 7.9 percent (CAGR) between 2010-2015.

Opportunities in retail
Retail represents the largest single market segment for 
the LI4278. According to VDC, the retail in-store market 
for linear imagers will hit $51.8M in 2012 — with an 
average growth rate of 7.3 percent between 2010-2015 
[Figure 2].

Mobile commerce: A trend on the rise
The LI4278 is capable of reading 1D bar codes displayed 
on smartphones, cell phones, tablets, and other mobile
