New HP SmartMemory now provides additional protection for your servers. With HP Authentication it can verify that you have true
HP Qualified Memory in your HP ProLiant Gen8 server. With HP SmartMemory your new HP ProLiant server can take advantage of
additional Gen8 enhancements in performance, durability and future manageability support through HP Active Health System.
For detailed memory configuration rules and guidelines, please use the Online DDR3 Memory Configuration Tool:

NOTE: Considering the thermal constraints, please ensure, all the empty DIMM slots of the installed processors are populated with
DIMM blanks. For CTOs, this is taken care of by HP. For processor field upgrades, please note the processor option kits have twelve
DIMM blanks which need to be populated on the empty DIMM slots.

Some DIMM installation guidelines are summarized below:
For servers with twenty-four (24) memory slots:
There are four (4) channels per processor; eight (8) channels per server
There are three (3) DIMM slots for each memory channel; twenty-four (24) total slots
White DIMM slots denote the first slot of a channel. For 1 DPC (DIMM per channel) populate white slots only.
Install DIMMs only if the corresponding processor is installed.
If only one processor is installed in a two processor system, only half of the DIMM slots are available.
When two processors are installed, balance the DIMMs across the two processors.
To maximize performance, balance the total memory capacity between all installed processors
Populate DIMMs from heaviest load (quad-rank) to lightest load (single-rank) within a channel
Heaviest load (DIMM with most ranks) within a channel goes furthest from the processor
Do not mix UDIMMs, RDIMMs or LRDIMMs
LR DIMMs are supported up to 3 DIMMs per channel.
DIMMs of different voltages (1.35V & 1.5V) may be mixed in any order
The system will power them at the higher voltage
DIMMs of different speed grades may be mixed in any order
The system will select a common optimal speed
To realize the performance memory capabilities listed in this document, HP SmartMemory is required. For
