Ulead MediaStudio Pro 8 is powerful, versatile and intuitive video editing 

software for professionals and enthusiasts. Create dynamic HDV, DV or MPEG 

video content for independent productions, events, business and education.  

Integrated, quick-to-master tools, including Smart Compositor and Smart Proxy, 

take you to the forefront of professional real-time video editing.

• The 

Smart Compositor offers you a powerful tool to 

create professional-quality opening sequences or segues 
with pre-made masks, frames and moving paths.  This is 
the fast and easy way:  select a suitable theme, drop in 
your own video or images, modify the text, perhaps 
change the background music, and save.  Then export 
sequences as either virtual clips, or nested timelines 
which can be opened and further tweaked as required by 
your production.   All the speed without the “cookie 
cutter” effect of templates!

•  Even if MediaStudio Pro is not your primary NLE, Smart 

Compositor can come to the rescue for those quick-
turnaround jobs that still have to look really high-end.  
Compose your sequence, then simply render it as a video 
clip for use in your main NLE.

•  Edit HDV in real-time, even on mid-range or mobile 

notebook machines!

•  With Smart Proxy selected, lower-resolution, easy-on-the-

resources proxies are automatically created in the 
background for files above a preset frame size.   

•  These proxies can then be edited in true real-time, with 

low demands on system resources.   

•  This process is completely lossless, your final output 

always links back to the original full-resolution files.  This 
is the perfect solution for documentary producers who 
have embraced HDV and who want to edit on the go.

•  Smart Package mode is great for collaborative editing 

and archiving.  Package and share proxies, edit, then 
combine as multiple timelines referring back to original 
footage.

in speedy, easy-on-the-resources Smart Proxy mode.

•  Freely convert between HDV Program Stream and 

Transport Stream (.m2t or .mpg), to view HDV on your 
PC, or write back to HDV Camcorder or deck.

•  Convert HDV to WMV-HD, or downconvert to any other SD 

format of your choice, such as DV, WMV, Quicktime, or 
MPEG-2 for DVD authoring.

•  Custom workspace gives you resizable, dockable panels 

to arrange tools where they will be most convenient. Save 
your favorite workspaces with the Layout Manager and 
instantly toggle between them with hot keys.

•  Summary Timeline selectively expands elements on the 

timeline to a common scale, so you can identify even 
small clips and transitions at a glance.
