The IBM® BladeCenter® HX5 is a blade server designed to provide new levels of

utilization, performance, and reliability for compute-intensive and memory-intensive

workloads such as database, virtualization, business intelligence, modeling and

simulation, and other enterprise applications.

Going beyond the industry standards with unique innovations from fifth-generation

IBM X-Architecture® technology (eX5), the new IBM BladeCenter HX5 models

deliver improved compute performance, memory footprint, and I/O bandwidth to

enable new levels of utilization in a blade form factor for compute-intensive and

memory-intensive enterprise workloads.

Selected models may be installed within traditional IBM BladeCenter chassis or the

IBM zEnterprise® BladeCenter Extension (zBX).

These new IBM BladeCenter HX5 models are configured with feature-rich Fibre

Channel and Ethernet networking options, making them easy to order, configure,

and deploy.

The HX5 features:

• Single-wide (30 mm), high-performance blade server
• Two Intel Xeon

TM

 E7-2830 CPUs per node

• Sixteen DDR3 VLP DIMMs per node
• Support for the QLogic 8 Gb Fibre Channel CIOv expansion card
• Support for Broadcom 2-port 10 Gb Virtual Fabric Adapter (CFFh)
• Integrated dual Gigabit Ethernet connections
• Support for 200 GB solid-state drive and a SSD Expansion Card for IBM

BladeCenter HX5

These selected models of HX5 may be used in the IBM zEnterprise BladeCenter

Extension (zBX). Refer to Hardware Announcement 

, dated July 12,

2011, for service and warranty considerations that will apply when the HX5 is
