Intended Use
The product is intended for installation in an 13.33 cm/5.25” slot of a computer case. It is used
there for quick insertion or change of a 8.89 cm/3.5” SATA hard drive without having to open
the case of the computer.
A built-in fan serves to cool the hard drive; the fan speed can be adjusted in 3 steps.
On the front of the mounting frame, there is not only a lock for locking the mounting frame but
also a display for indicating the temperature (display switchable between °C and °F) and fan
speed.
To protect the drive from overheating, a warning signal sounds at a temperature of above
+55 °C and the fan switches automatically to the highest fan speed.
This product complies with the applicable national and European requirements. All names of

• If the accessory kit (screws, 2 keys, SATA cable) is inside the mounting frame, remove it fi rst.
• Open your computer’s housing and carefully remove the cover.

There may be a metal shield behind it which needs to be removed. With some casings, this
can be unscrewed; with others, you have to carefully snap it out.
Depending on the housing, the entire front panel of the housing has to be removed before-
hand.
• Slide the mounting frame in the correct orientation into the drive bay of your computer hous-
ing.
• Screw the mounting frame fi rmly into the computer with 4 M3 screws, so that its front is fi xed
fl ush with the computer casing front.
• Connect the SATA connection on the mounting frame to a SATA connection of your moth-
erboard; use e.g. the provided SATA cable for this purpose. If necessary, see the operating
instructions for your motherboard for what SATA connections lie where.

If your motherboard has a separate SATA RAID controller and you want to use one
of its SATA connections for the mounting frame, make sure that the SATA RAID con-
troller is switched on in the BIOS/setup and that the necessary driver was installed
in the operating system. Otherwise, a hard drive inserted in the mounting frame will
not work.

Operation
Inserting or removing hard drives
• The insertion and exchange of the SATA hard drive should occur only when the computer is
switched off.
Many SATA controllers are not “hot swap”-capable. That means that they are not
suitable for separating a SATA hard drive from or connecting a drive to the controller
while the computer is in use. Any disconnection during operation could lead to a loss
of data. Connecting a drive can cause the drive not to be recognized.
while the computer is in use. Any disconnection during operation could lead to a loss
of data. Connecting a drive can cause the drive not to be recognized.
Even if the SATA controller is “hot swap”-capable, we recommend that you not re-
move the hard drive during operation, since the backward motion during removal
could cause the write/read head to make contact with the magnetic disk in the drive,
which destroys the drive.

Medium fan speed
3 bars, “H” marking:

The respective measured fan speed will be shown in the display.
Switching units for the temperature display
The temperature can be shown in °C (degrees Celsius) or ° F (degrees Fahrenheit).
To switch between °C and °F, press and hold both “-” and “+” buttons below the display.

Alarm signal at over temperature
If the temperature measured is more than +55 °C, an alarm signal is emitted for approx. 10
seconds and the temperature display fl ashes.
Thereupon the high fan speed is activated automatically, regardless of which fan speed you
have previously selected using the buttons.
When the temperature falls again afterwards, the fan speed does not switch back to the prior
setting for safety reasons.
