use a PC as a host side for the Runner application. It is recommended that you copy 

wsnrunner.properties-example

 from the installation directory to 

C:\Documents 

and Settings\<account name>\.config\wsnrunner.properties

Over-the-Air Upgrade (OTAU) is used to upload new application firmware to a device 

over the air. To enable OTAU the device should be programmed with the special 

embedded  application called the OTAU bootloader, which is stored in the flash 

memory next to the application image. To use OTAU the user should download the 

Atmel Serial Bootloader package from the Atmel website. The package contains pre-

built OTAU bootloader images and the PC tool that is used to initiate an Over-the-Air 

upgrade.  The package is also needed for uploading new application images to 

devices via serial connection with a PC. 
Using OTAU requires different fuse settings (see Setting fuse bits  sections in the 

corresponding appendices). The application image should be in SREC format. Such 

images are provided along with other types of binaries by BitCloud Profile Suite. 
How to demonstrate OTAU functionality in a Smart Energy reference network is 

described in Section

For users who intend to use over-the-air upgrade (OTAU) features: 
1.  Download and unzip the Serial Bootloader software package 

2.  Launch the Bootloader PC tool setup file, which is located in the 

./PC_Bootloader_Setup

 folder inside the Serial Bootloader package, and follow 

the installation instructions. 

BitCloud PS SDK comes with precompiled reference applications (see 

which can be immediately loaded and run on compatible hardware platforms. The 

images should be loaded into the boards according to the platform-specific 

instructions.
