c) Fastening the Elevator Unit
The following construction section is decisive for the flight
characteristics of the model.
Work precisely and check repeatedly before gluing on the elevator
unit.
Also observe alignment of the wing and the rubber or elevator unit to
the fuselage as shown in figure 5.
We therefore recommend that you install the wing for the following
section. Observe the notes in one of the following chapters.
Adjust the distance from the centre of the elevator holder to the fuselage end to
40 cm (figure 4, item 1).
Align the model as shown in figure 5 so that the paths A to A‘, B to B´ and C to C´
are precisely the same.
When this is the case, you may fasten the elevator holder to the fuselage holder
with a drop of superglue (figure 4, item 2).
d) Mounting the Rudder Unit
The following construction section is decisive for the flight
characteristics of the model.
Work precisely and check repeatedly before gluing on the rudder
unit.
Also observe alignment of the wing and the rubber or elevator unit to
the fuselage as shown in figure 5.
We therefore recommend that you install the wing for the following
section. Observe the notes in one of the following chapters.
Carefully remove a strip of the iron-on film (2) of about 8 mm width from either
side of the rudder (1), see figure 6.
The depth (length) of the strip depends on the pre-fabricated slot of the tail unit
holder and must be measured accordingly.
Then glue the rudder hinges to the dampening fin with a drop of superglue and
then to the rudder as already done for the elevator (also see figure 3, item 1).
Now push the rudder into the tail boom slot. The areas where the iron-on foil was
removed must be in the tail boom slot. Align the rudder so that the rear edge of the
rudder (dashed line) is at an angle of precisely 90° to the tail boom. When this is
the case, the rudder can be fastened to the tail boom with a few drops of superglue.
