m) Mounting the Wing Struts
For better stability of the wings in flight operation, wing
struts must be installed to the model.
Remove the middle area of the film at the ends of the wing struts.
Mark and drill the holes for the attachment eyelets in the area of the
main landing gear as shown in figure 10a (approx. 10 mm up from the
fuselage bottom) with a 1.5 mm drill.
Observe that the holes are pre-drilled where the corresponding hard
wood blocks are glued in on the inside of the fuselage.
Screw the eyelets tightly to the fuselage on the left and right and install
the rubber rings.
Attach the wing struts to the fuselage with the brackets.
Measure and mark the holes in the wings into which fastening eyelets
are installed as well with the wing installed. It is important that the eyelets
are assembled so that the wing will not be pushed up or pulled down
and/or tensioned when the wing struts are installed.
The attachment holes must be drilled in the area of the servo shafts
with a 1.5 mm drill, approx. 75 mm inwards from the nose strip.
Observe that the holes are drilled at the centre of the hard-wood frame
(see figure 10b).
Install the eyelets and rubber rings.
For higher strength, we recommend applying a drop of
superglue to the wing before final assembly of the eyelets
into the holes.
Turning in or out of the eyelets leads to a length adjustment
that warrants tension-free assembly.
