i) Switching the Engine On/Off
General information on combustion engines
At commissioning of the new engine, a certain run-in time must be complied with. During this time, engine parts are
tuned to one another, whereby maximal capacity is reached and premature wear is prevented. Breaking in therefore
needs to be performed very carefully!
For more information about breaking in, see chapter 8 g).
Starting
•  Place the vehicle on an appropriate surface so that the wheels can turn freely.
•  Hold the muffler closed and pull the cable starter several times slowly to suck fuel into the carburettor.
Do this until there are no more visible air bubbles in the fuel hose between the tank and carburettor and the fuel just
about reaches the carburettor.
  Attention!

Do not pull out the cable starter all the way but only to a maximum of 3/4 of its length. Determine the rope
length by slow extension (without the glow plug ignition being plugged on!). Do not use any force for pulling
out!

If pulling out is too hard, the motor has „drowned“ (too much fuel in the combustion chamber). Observe the
section „Remove fuel when the engine has drowned“ on the next page in this case.
•  Place the plug starter on the glow plug with the battery fully charged. Observe tight fit of the connection clamp of the
glow plug started on the glow plug.
•  Now pull the cable pull starter through until the motor starts up. Hold the model with your other hand. However, never
reach into the drive when holding the model, since it may start up due to engaging of the sliding clutch. Do not hold
the vehicle by its wheels. Danger of injury!
•  Once the motor is running, let go of the cable starter and remove the glow plug starter from the glow plug.
Only leave the glow-plug starter connected briefly for starting. Otherwise, the glow plug may burn through prematu-
rely.
•  If the pull starter can only be actuated with a lot of force after several unsuccessful start attempts, too much fuel
has gotten into the combustion chamber and the crankcase. The engine was „flooded“. Refrain from further starting
attempts and remove the excess fuel in order to prevent damaging the cable pull starter and the engine.
Removing fuel when the motor has „drowned“
•  Screw out the glow plug. Check it for glow function. A defective glow plug may cause the problem when starting.
•  Compress the fuel hose firmly between tank and carburettor.
•  Place a piece of cloth on the engine and pull the cable pull starter 5 - 6 times (3/4 of the length!). The fuel is pumped
out and evaporates.
•  Insert the glow plug again.
•  Repeat the start-up process.
