e) Mounting the Rudder System
Figure 2 shows the rudder system, the attachment
screws of the rudder, the rod connection for the
linkage rods (1), linkage connection for both rudders
(2), the connections of the water cooling (3) and the
entry openings of the water cooling (4). the rudder
system also has the receptacle for the shaft holder
(5) included.
For the first drive, the rudder system must be
installed to the body boat with four threaded screws
(M4 x 20 mm) (see figure 2). The shaft holder must
be attached to the rudder system with a M5 x 15
screw and a stop nut. Also observe figure 6, item 3.
In this work step, also install the steering linkage for
the servo (1) and the rods for mechanical coupling
of both rudders (2).
Switch your remote control on and put the steering servo to the neutral position. Adjust the rudder in the neutral
position as well. Fasten the linkage rods with a linkage connection installed at the servo rudder horn.
Check the function of the rudder linkage. For this, observe the notes in the following chapter „Model Commissioning“.
Finally, the hoses for water cooling (3) must be pushed on.
Check the rudder system and its linkage for tight fit and damage before any voyage. A damaged or loose
linkage/attachment must be repaired before the voyage. If this is not observed, the linage rods and/or rudder
system may come loose unintended in operation.
There is a danger of further damage to your model (e.g. the steering servo blocks). The model will also no
longer be controllable and may cause uncontrollable damage there. Also observe the following information
in the chapter 9 „Model Commissioning“.
„Metal/metal“ screw connections must be secured against unintended loosening either with so-called stop
nuts or with a drop of thread locker varnish.
f) Angle of Attack of the Drive Shaft
Your model has a holder for the drive shaft at the rudder system (figure 2, item 5). Loosening the screw (also see figure
6, item 3) permits adjustment of the drive shaft’s angle of attack slightly to optimise sliding of the model.
The model sliding properties depend on many factors. For example, the weight and installation site of the
drive battery and/or the properties of the water surface (many or few waves) influence the model sliding
properties. Therefore, these operating instructions can to offer specific setting information. You need to
perform operation tests to find the best settings.
