Wireless Motion Detector A
Version 01/09
Item-No. 75 12 90
°
1. Intended Use
The Wireless Motion Detector detects infrared radiation (warmth) from moving people and warm-
blooded animals (for the latter, there is a minimum size required for the PIR motion detector to
respond).
A 9V (PP3) battery supplies the power.
If mounted externally, the Wireless Motion Detector must be mounted in a sheltered position and
be protected from direct rainwater and direct sunlight.
Any use other than that described above could lead to damage to this product and involves the
risk of short circuits, fire, electric shock, etc.
No part of the product should be modified or reassembled. Do not use the device if the housing
is not completely closed.
All safety and assembly instructions must be carefully followed!
2. Contents
• Wireless Motion Detector
• Mountable holder
• Assembly material
• Operating instructions
3. Explanation of Symbols
The flash icon in a triangle is used to alert you to potential risks for personal injury,
such as electric shock.
A triangle containing an exclamation mark indicates important information in these
operating instructions which is to be observed without fail.
The "hand" symbol indicates special information and advice on operating the
device.
4. Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions!
Liability for any and all consequential damage is excluded!
We shall not accept liability for damage to property or personal injury caused
by incorrect handling or non-compliance with the safety instructions. The
warranty is voided in these cases.
Dear Customer, the following safety instructions are intended not just for the protection
of your health but also for the protection of the device. Please, read carefully through the
following points:
a) General information
• If you have any doubts regarding the assembly, connection and installation of the device or if
you are unsure of how the device works, do not carry out the assembly/connection/installation
of the device yourself, but entrust an expert.
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible because of
safety and approval reasons (CE).
• The product is only intended for dry indoor locations. The product must not get damp or wet.
• Keep the product out of the reach of children.
• Do not carelessly leave the packaging material lying around since this may become a danger-
ous toy for children.
• Handle the product with care. It can be damaged through impact, blows, or accidental drops,
even from a limited height.
b) Batteries and rechargeable batteries
• Batteries and rechargable batteries must be kept away from children.
• Please observe the correct polarity, when placing (rechargeable) batteries into the unit.
• Do not leave (rechargeable) batteries lying about openly. There is a risk that the batteries may
be swallowed by children or pets. If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Leaking, or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries, in contact with the skin can cause acid
burns, therefore, use suitable protective gloves.
• Make sure that (rechargeable) batteries are not short-circuited or thrown into a fire. There is a
risk of explosion!
• Never disassemble (rechargeable) batteries!
• Normal batteries must not be recharged. There is a risk of explosion!
• In the event of longer periods of non-use (e.g. during storage) remove the inserted (recharge-
able) batteries to avoid damage from a leaking battery.

5. Assembly
Please note that the detection range depends on the height the Wireless
Motion Detector is mounted and on the direction of the front lens opening .
The recommended mounting height is 2 meter.
When mounted on the holder, the sensor can be adjusted by an angle of
aprox. 45°, making future detection range adjustments easy . The Wireless
Motion Detector has a horizontal detection angle of 110° and a max. range of
10 meter.
• To avoid pets causing false alarms, keep them away from the protected area, if possible.
• If the Wireless Motion Detector is mounted outside, please take into account that trees can trig-
ger a false alarm when blowing in the wind. Direct sunlight can also cause a false alarm.
• When possible, mounting indoors should be preferred. This will reduce considerably the occur-
rence of false alarms.
Information for Mounting Outdoors
If you are mounting the Wireless Motion Detector outdoors,
it’s recommended that its sensitivity is reduced.
To do this, remove the battery compartment screw on the
back of the device. Pull the cover off the battery compartment
downwards and short the jumper, which is now accessible
(see image right), in position 2 (Position 1 and 2 are marked
„1“ and „2“ on the PCB).
Position 1 = High motion sensitivity
Position 2 = Low motion sensitivity
Put the battery cover back in place and tighten the screw that was loosened earlier.
When selecting the position to install the Wireless Motion Detector, please
note that it must not be subjected to direct sunlight, vibrations, dust, heat or
cold. This can lead to faulty activation, defects or functional impairment.
To ensure the best motion detection, the Motion Detector must be placed so
that the object to be detected does not approach the Motion Detector direct-
ly but passes from left to right or vice versa.
Please note, in any case, that mounting the device outdoors increases the
probability of false alarms.
Do not locate devices with strong magnetic or electric fields, such as mobile
phones, electric motors, etc. in the immediate vicinity.
When drilling or tightening screws, make sure not to damage any power sup-
ply lines, gas or water pipes, as this might involve life-threatening danger!
• Find a suitable mounting position for the
Wireless Motion Detector in the room to
be guarded.
• Place the holder in a suitable position on
a wall.
• Mark the appropriate mounting position
with a sharp pencil, through the screw
holes in the holder.
• Depending on the wall material, holes
may be drilled and suitable plugs used.
• Now fix the holder to the wall with the
screws.
Performing a Walking Test
We recommend you perform a so-called „walking test“ after the assembly is complete, to test the
Wireless Motion Detector and to determine the optimum detection range. Proceed as follows:
• Pull the Wireless Motion Detector off the mounting base.
• Remove the battery compartment screw, on the back of the
device.
• Remove the cover of the battery compartment.
• Insert the supplied 9V PP3 battery.
• Put the battery cover back in place and tighten the screw
that you loosened earlier.
• Slide the Motion Detector back on the mounting base.
• Turn the Motion Detector to the desired position.
• Leave the detection area and wait for 2 minutes.
• Now walk into the detection area. As soon as the Motion
Detector registers your movement, a red LED behind the dif-
fuser lens lights up, confirming the correct functioning.
