Perform initialization only when pushing the Reset button does not allow 
the device to be restarted.

Initialization will cause all data saved in the device’s memory to be 

erased. The programs preinstalled before shipment will not be erased.

Before performing initialization, back up important data using a 
personal computer or a memory card. For details about data backup, see 
“Backing Up Data” on page 179.

Remove a memory card before starting initialization.

Remove the AC adapter and peripheral equipment from the device. 
Executing initialization with equipment connected may result in 
initialization failure.

Remove the main battery. To remove, see “Removing the Main 
Battery” on page 18.

Using a non-conductive fine tool, shift the Full Reset switch downward 
(lock position). The power is switched off.

Wait for approximately two minutes.

Install the main battery. To install, see “Installing the Main Battery” 
on page 16.
