Cisco VG30D Q.931/QSIG-to-DPNSS Converter
Product Overview
The Cisco
®
VG30D (Figure 1) is a Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) E1 converter. It supports the conversion of
either the Q.931 (primary rate interface [PRI]) or QSIG protocol to the UK-centric Digital Private Network Signaling
System (DPNSS) protocol. It can be used in conjunction with other Cisco voice gateway products to connect Cisco
Unified Communications Manager or Cisco Unified Communications Manager Business Edition to DPNSS networks.
It supports the mapping of advanced DPNSS supplementary services to and from QSIG.

The Cisco VG30D is a single E1 converter; however, because of its web-based management, multiple units can
easily be deployed, making it ideal for managed service networks.
The use of Cisco preset configuration application pages enables quick and easy installation. The Cisco VG30D
includes a full range of diagnostic tools to aid in problem determination and resolution.

Management
Cisco VG30D systems are designed to be quick to install and to work in a way that does not require changes to
attached equipment. Cisco preset configuration applications are provided, further simplifying installation. Cisco
VG30D systems are managed over Ethernet by a web-based man machine interface (MMI), accessed through a
standard browser. SNMP traps are provided for notification of critical events.
Figure 2 shows a typical network using Cisco VG30D for Cisco Unified Communications Manager DPNSS
integration.
