Vanguard Daughtercards
Introduction
The Vanguard 6455 and 6435 can support these standard Vanguard Daughtercards:
• DIM (X.21/V.24/V.35/V.36) Daughtercard
• 56K DSU/CSU Daughtercard
• ISDN BRI-U Daughtercard
• ISDN & enhanced ISDN BRI S/T Daughtercards 
• ISDN BRI Voice Daughtercard
• RemoteVU (video) Daughtercard
• 1-Port Voice Daughtercard (FXS/FXO)
• 2-Port Voice FXS Daughtercard
• 4-Port Voice FXS Daughtercard
• 4-Port Voice FXO Daughtercard
• Dual E&M Daughtercard
• FT1/FE1 Daughtercards
• V.34 Modem 
• V.90 Modem
This section briefly describes these cards.
For instructions for installing these cards, refer to the Vanguard Daughtercard 
Installation Guide
 (Part Number T0020).

For information regarding Enhanced Vanguard Daughtercards, turn to the

Daughtercard 
Compatibility
Older Vanguard Daughtercards do not fit into the Vanguard 6435/6455. You can only 
use the newer daughtercards which are identified by a dimple as shown in 
Figure 2-9. If the dimple is not present, do not attempt to use the Daughtercard in the 
Vanguard 6435/6455.
Also, when installing a Vanguard Daughtercard into a 6435/6455, you must use the 
shorter two-sided header. The taller header is used with other Vanguard units.

Caution
If you attempt to force an older Vanguard Daughtercard into a Vanguard 6435/6455, 
the equipment will be damaged.
If you have an older Vanguard Daughtercard and would like to use it in a Vanguard 
6435/6455, contact your service representative about having the card reworked.
