Vanguard 6455 Option Cards

SDB4 Option Card

Description

The SDB4 Option Card shown in Figure 2-34 is an optional card for the Vanguard
6455 that provides four high speed Sync/Async ports. The card can plug into either
or both Option Card slots in the Vanguard 6455 chassis.

The SDB4 has four DIM-selectable serial sync/async I/O ports. There are two 50 pin
connectors on the SDB4 back panel. Two Y-Adapter Cables (one for each 50-pin
connector on the back panel) break out into four DB-25 connectors, which allow for
standard connection, via cables, to other equipment.

The Vanguard 6455 Option Card differs from the existing Vanguard Daughtercards
as follows:

• Supports processor(s) and a high-speed bus interface to the motherboard.

• Supports large cards (4.75 x 12 inches) for external device connection.

Port Description

The SDB4 ports have these characteristics:

• Data Rates up to 2.048 Mbps

• MC68360 processor

• DIM support (Configuration is factory set as specified by your sales order.)
