When “Greeting only” is selected, 

C is 

displayed on the base unit.

You can select whether or not the message 
indicator on the handset flashes slowly when new 
messages are recorded. The default setting is 
“Off”.

The message indicator also flashes for newly 
recorded voice mail messages (page 37).
