Service Processor Self-Test
The service processor card performs a self test and NVRAM initialization.
The LED Code range is E000 - E07F and the LED shows
OK
code when
complete.
Service processor in Standby Mode
You can enter the service processor menus whenever the LED code is
OK
STBY
, or has an eight digit error code on the LED display by pressing the Enter
key on an ASCII terminal connected to serial port S1.
Built-In-Self-Test (BIST)
The service processor initiates a Built-In-Self-Test (BIST) on the Central
Electronics Complex (CEC) chips when the power button is pressed. The
VPD is read, the CRC is done, and the processor compatibility test is run.
LED Code range is E0A0 - E0E1.
System Initialization
System firmware begins to execute and then initializes system registers after
LED code E0E1. LED Code range is E1XX - E2XX.
Memory Test
The system firmware tests the system memory and identifies failing memory
cards and memory module locations. LED Code range is E3XX.
Device Configuration and Test
System firmware checks to see what devices are in the system and performs
a simple test on them.
The system firmware displays the device name or device icon being tested.
After the keyboard name or icon appears, you can enter the Systems
Management Services menu by hitting the 1 key (if using a ASCII terminal) or
the F1 key (if using a Graphics terminal).
You can also enter one of the following:
  • 5 key (on an ASCII terminal) or F5 (on a graphics terminal) to start the
Stand-Alone Diagnostics (CD).
  • 6 key (on an ASCII terminal) or F6 (on a graphics terminal) to start the
On-line Diagnostics (Hard Disk)
IPL Boot Code
The system firmware attempts to boot from the devices listed in the Boot List.
The LED Code range is E1XX.
