To run LLC2 in an FRX or FRM, you must first configure the following in the 
database:

●

Node parameters. See Chapter 3.

●

Line Processor(s) that will contain the interface(s) to the network and/or frame 
relay PVC, plus Line Interface Card(s) supporting the ports that will be the inter-
faces. See Chapter 4.

●

Protocols: LLC2, plus frame relay and/or X.25, depending on the network/PVC 
connection. See Chapter 4.

●

LAN interface(s) that will connect to the LAN(s). See Chapter 4.

●

Virtual LAN IDs (described later in this chapter) – since an FRX/FRM is seen 
to LLC2 as a virtual LAN, an ID must be specified to identify the node to LLC2.

●

LLC2 Host(s)  (described later in this chapter) – identification of attached SNA 
host device(s).

●

LLC2 Interface(s)  (described later in this chapter) – identification of the local 
node's interface(s) to the LAN(s) and/or host device(s).

●

Frame  relay or X.25 port(s) that will connect to the  network and/or PVC(s). See 
Chapter 6 (frame relay) or Chapter 7 (X.25).

●

SNA  port(s) (described earlier in  this chapter), if SNA  devices  are  connected to 
the FRX/FRM via SLDC.

●

SNA HPADs and TPADs (described earlier in this chapter), which identify any 
SDLC devices that will communicate with a LAN-attached SNA host.
