Dialling options
The KEYPAD function allows you to control certain features by entering sequences of
characters and digits.
The KEYPAD function should be set when connecting your telephone to an ISDN PABX
or to an exchange (e. g. Centrex), which is controlled by the KEYPAD protocol. The dig-
its/characters 0–9, *, # are sent as keypad information elements. Please ask your service
provider about the information and codes you can transmit.
If your telephone is part of a Centrex system you can use the following features.
Setting options
You can switch between the settings Standard dial (default settings), Auto keypad
and Dial * and #.
Standard dial
Once Standard dial has been activated, * and # are not transmitted during dialling, and
if and # are entered it is not possible to switch to the keypad.
Auto keypad
Once * or # has been entered, this setting automatically transfers ringing during dialling
to the keypad. This automatic switchover is needed to give commands to the exchange
or PABX.
Dial * and #
Once Dial * and # has been activated, the * and # characters are transmitted during dial-
ling as commands to the exchange or PABX.
Regardless of the setting options above, after dialling or during a call the phone
switches automatically to tone dialling (DTMF), e. g. for remote control of an answering
machine.
Calling Name Identification
(CNI)
When you receive calls from other CENTREX subscrib-
ers, the caller's number and name are displayed on
the screen.
Message Waiting Indication
(MWI)
The
J
display key is available on Comfort
handsets if new calls appear in the caller list. Calling
up the caller list deletes the
J
 display key.
CENTREX call
A CENTREX call is signalled acoustically in the same
way as an internal call.
