The System Status Window
Located above the keyboard, the System Status window informs you of the
Notebook’s current operating status at a glance. Please see Figure 1-4 to
locate this display. Upon activating a certain function, a symbol or icon
corresponding to that function will appear in the system window until you
deactivate that feature. The symbol will remain in the window indicating that
the feature is engaged.

Figure 3-4 shows the “System Status window” with all the symbols that can be

Caps Lock
Upon pressing the [Caps Lock] key, this icon appears in the System Status
window indicating that the Caps Lock feature is engaged. Press the [Caps
Lock] key again to deactivate this feature and turn off the icon.

Num Lock

Pad Lock
The pad lock or keypad icon appears in the System Status window when you
press the Notebook’s [Fn] key indicating the keypad’s cursor function is
engaged. The icon disappears when you release the [Fn] key indicating the
cursor function is no longer activated. Another way to turn the keypad icon on
is by pressing the [Fn] + [F8] keys. When this is done, the keypad is locked
and its numeric feature is engaged.
