Static routing commands
Static routing can be provisioned to force a particular route within a network environment. The
following information is required for static routing setup:
•
•
a valid IP destination that is not already resolvable in the routing table
•
a subnet mask appropriate to the destination host/network installation
•
the IP address to use for the gateway to route traffic through
•
Number of hops as appropriate to the network; if this parameter is not set, it defaults to 1.
The routes to be added must be unique within the network. For example, the IP address and the
subnet mask should not match any other valid destination accessible in the routing table. If the
VDR has an IP address of 192.168.0.1 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, you can't add a route
to 192.168.0.2 with any subnet mask because the 5100/6100 VDR already has a route for that
host.
The route to the gateway must be resolvable to an interface of the 5100/6100 VDR.
The route to the gateway must be resolvable to an interface of the 5100/6100 VDR.
