YEStablet 7375 User Guide—CompactFlash Bar Code Scanner

 

 

 

The “In-Hand™ Scan Card” bar code scanner by Socket Communications is offered as an 
optional accessory to the 7375 tablet.  This 7375 option fits into the CompactFlash® slot 
along the top edge of the tablet.   
 
A hard button on the tablet can be programmed (see 

) or may already be pre-programmed to trigger the scanner function.  Button #10 is 

a popular choice. 
 

 
When the tablet firmware detects the presence of the scanner (you may have to press the scanner button first), an 
icon appears in the System Tray.  Single-tap on this icon to invoke a configuration menu with the following 
functions: 

•  Symbology Selector.  Eighteen of the most popular barcode protocols are listed here, and you have an 

enable/disable choice for each one.  Most of them are enabled by default. 

•  Prefix/Suffix.  You can specify character strings and several cursor movement functions as a prefix and/or a 

suffix to your scans.  The default suffix is tab-carriage return. 

•  Scan Demo.  This brings up a window which provides information about a test scan. 

•  Sounds.  You can select one of three sound options to accompany each successful scan.  The default is beep. 

•  About.  This gives the version of the scanner driver installed in the tablet. 
 
NOTE:  Although this Appendix highlights the CF bar code scanner, the 7375 also supports a wide range of USB-
based scanners which may be more readily available and more cost-effective.  The support for these USB-based 
scanners is also likely to be “plug-and-play”, without any need for custom device drivers.
