A
For the simplest hookup.
RF In connects to television antenna
and/or cable. The RF Out jack allows
the DVR5000 to work with any television,
even older models, ensuring consumer
satisfaction with product. (Mono sound.)
B
For stereo sound,
simple hookup.
Composite connections allow a simple
stereo hookup (left and right channels).
The DVR5000 provides extra video and
audio line ins and outs (Note: (C) can
also be utilized) for attaching to other
stereo components, amplifiers, receivers
or stereo televisions. Other VCRs and
DVD players, etc. can also be hooked
up to the DVR5000. When using these
connections, the DVDs’ 5.1 digital
audio sound is “mixed” down to right
and left stereo only.
C
Extra stereo audio
connections.
Line Out Audio composite (also “mixed”
down to stereo only) connections can
be used when the DVD portion of the
unit is hooked up through either the
Component Video Out (E) or S-Video
Out (F), or when an extra audio out
is needed.
D
For timer recordings on VCR.
VCR+ C3–connects to the cable mouse
(included) which controls your cable box
or DSS (satellite) receiver. Allows you to
easily “program” the VCR to timer record.
E
Option for DVD
video hookup.
Component Video Out connections are
used with very high-end televisions
which have these hookups available.
They allow the highest level of output
resolution to be seen on-screen. Either
mixed down stereo audio connections
(C) or 5.1 channel audio connections
(G), (H) or (I) can be used with this.
F
Option for DVD
video hookup.
S Video Out is used for newer, higher-
end TVs with S Video In connections.
They give a higher picture quality (500
lines) when viewing DVDs. Either mixed
down stereo audio connections (C) or
5.1 channel audio connections (G), (H)
or (I) can be used with this.
G
Option for DVD analog
audio hookup.
These connections are for the decoded
Dolby Digital 5.1 channels (left and
right front, left and right rear, center
speaker and powered subwoofer)
and are used for hookup with a “Dolby
Digital-Ready” amplifier.
H
Option for the DVD digital
audio hookup.
Optical connection is used for hookup
if you have an amplifier with Dolby
Digital decoder already inside it. This
connection is optical, known as TosLink.
®
I
Option for the DVD digital
audio hookup.
Coaxial connection is used for hookup
if you have an amplifier with Dolby
Digital decoder already inside it. This
connection is coaxial.
A or B are mandatory connections,
and will allow for complete opera-
tion of VCR and DVD player. C is
stereo option for VCR and/or DVD.
E or F are options for DVD viewing
only. G, H and I are audio (sound)
options for DVD only.
