Canon HD camcorders capture and record at a
maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 for clarity that is nothing
short of remarkable. This meticulous level of detail is fully
supported by the unmatched quality of Canon optics and
processing technologies, such as the Full HD CMOS sensor.
Canon camcorders offer an HD experience like no other.

Flash Memory
Lightweight, compact and easy to operate —
Flash Memory offers fast response and low power consumption. And
Dual Flash Memory camcorders allow you to record video to an internal
Flash drive as well as a removable SDHC memory card. When you
want to view your video (or when the internal Flash drive becomes
full) simply transfer footage between the internal Flash drive and
SDHC memory card, then pop it into your computer or HDTV.
Canon Video Technology
DIGIC DV III Image Processor
Genuine Canon Optics
Canon Full HD CMOS Image Sensor
Developed and perfected in Canon’s
EOS Digital SLR cameras, the CMOS Image
Sensor provides stunningly realistic detail,
capturing Full HD information at 1920 x 1080.
Advanced noise reduction technology ensures the
purity of each pixel even in dim light, while an RGB primary color
filter delivers sharp HD movies with vibrant, accurate color.
DIGIC DV III is Canon’s most
advanced HD image processor
ever, helping to deliver enhanced image
quality, true color production for both video
and photos, and a sophisticated noise reduction system for
exceptional low-light performance. It is also the high-speed
engine which powers a variety of new Canon technologies
including 8.0 Megapixel photo capture, 6.0 Megapixel
Simultaneous Photo Recording, a new Advanced Auto Exposure
system and Genuine Canon Face Detection.
Canon optics are the backbone of Canon’s
superior image quality. Using many of the same
technologies that have made Canon lenses
legendary the world over – Super Spectra
multi-coating, aspherical elements and more – Canon’s video
lenses deliver unsurpassed detail, resolution, contrast and color.
Canon’s sophisticated
Optical Image Stabilizer
system corrects camera
shake instantly. Shots are clear
and steady, whether the
camera is in motion, shooting
photos, or handheld at long
focal lengths. And because the system is optical,
there is no loss in image quality.
Sharp focus is especially important in HD, so
Canon developed Instant AF, a revolutionary
new focusing system that combines an external sensor with
Canon’s proven high-performance AF system. The two work
together to dramatically decrease focusing time, especially
when shooting in dim light or with the camera in motion.

The same high quality Face Detection technology used
in Canon digital cameras is now available in Canon High Definition
camcorders. Up to 35 faces can automatically be detected, and 9
detection frames can be displayed at one time. It will recognize
faces that are turned down or sideways. In addition, a specific
face may be selected as the main subject for continuous tracking.
Playback also allows you to access specific scenes based on faces.
