Setting Up a NetWare
®
 Print Service
In order to print on a NetWare
®
 network, you must set the printer server, 
queue, and other settings. You can use one of the software applications 
below to perform the print service settings from the computer that you are 
using. Use whichever method is easiest. This section describes how to 
perfrom the settings for NetSpot.
• NetSpot (Canon software application provided with the printer)
• NWADMIN or PCONSOLE (Novell software applications provided with 
NetWare
®
)
z NetSpot must be installed on the computer before you can use NetSpot to set the IP 
address. The system administrator should install NetSpot on the computer to be 
used. (Æ Setup Guide)
z If you are using an operating system that is not compatible with NetSpot, you can 
use another computer on the network or use NWADMIN or PCONSOLE.
z If you perform the print service settings with NetSpot or NWADMIN, Novell 
Client (the Novell NetWare
®
 client) must be installed as the client software 
application.
z The following procedure describes the print service settings for NetWare
®
. The 
procedure may be slightly different for your network environment.
Types of Print Services
Before performing the print service settings, be sure to read the description 
below then select the printer service type.
z The types of print services that can be used are different, depending on the version 
of NetWare
®
 in use.
z You can also NDPS as the print service for NetWare
®
. If you use NDPS as the print 
service, for the gateway use the Novell printer gateway provided by Novell. The 
setup procedure for NDPS is not described in this manual, so please refer to your 
NetWare
®
 instructions for details. The NDPS settings cannot be performed with 
NetSpot; perform these settings with NWADMIN.
z NDS (Novell Directory Service) and bindery mode
Both NDS and the bindery mode are compatible. You can select either, 
depending on the requirements of your network environment.
